Iran has allowed Britain’s charge d’affaires in Tehran to visit jailed Briton Roger Cooper for the first time in four months, the Foreign Office said in London. Cooper, a 52-year-old businessmen accused by Iran of spying, has been held without trial for more than three years. The visit Wednesday was the first consular access Iranian authorities have allowed to Cooper since August and came two days after the release from jail in Tehran of another Briton, Nicholas Nicola, 23, who was arrested on the Iranian border in 1986 on a firearms charge. A Foreign Office spokesman said Cooper was in good health and was given letters and Christmas cards from his family.
