Cuban Artists and Writers Hail Castro Regime

More than 100 Cuban artists and writers, in an answer to a call by 100 foreign intellectuals and entertainers for a plebiscite on President Fidel Castro’s rule, expressed their strong support Thursday for the Cuban revolution.
In a “Letter to Fidel,” the 114 signatories, including prima ballerina Alicia Alonso and singers Pablo Milanes and Silvio Rodriguez, called the Castro revolution, which will mark the 30th anniversary of its triumph on New Year’s Day, “the most important cultural event of (Cuba’s) history.”
