The new year brings with it a new batch of “National Geographic” specials on PBS. Arriving Jan. 18 will be “Baka: People of the Forest,” about the Pygmies who live in southeast Cameroon. That will be followed by “Elephant” in February, “Those Wonderful Dogs” in March and “Serengeti Diary” in April.

Rita Moreno and Ossie Davis have joined the cast of “B. L. Stryker.” That’s the new private eye series that Burt Reynolds is doing for “The ABC Mystery Movie.” Moreno will play Reynolds’ ex-wife. Davis will portray a former professional boxer who is a friend of Reynolds’.

Fans of “The Days and Nights of Molly Dodd,” take note: The series was axed by NBC last season but it didn’t die. Reruns will be turning up on the Lifetime cable channel Jan. 16 (Mondays at 7:30 p.m.), and new episodes will follow in April. Blair Brown stars.

Coming to TNT cable in May will be “The Kid,” with Val Kilmer in the title role of Billy the Kid. The movie was written by Gore Vidal. Kilmer is best known for his prominent roles in “Top Gun” and “Willow.”
