Cerritos : Dedication Slated for Newly Expanded Park
Live entertainment and sports demonstrations will highlight the daylong dedication and opening Saturday of the newly expanded portion of Liberty Park in Cerritos.
An enclosed group picnic area with a seating capacity of 350, as well as a stage, barbecues and sinks, is included in the expansion. There is also an overnight camping area for city youth groups and an amphitheater where the city’s summer concert series will be held.
New racquetball courts in the park feature hardwood maple floors and a wall-panel system designed to maximize the speed of play. Cerritos residents can rent a court for $5 an hour. Non-residents must pay $8 an hour. There are also new tennis and basketball courts.
Expansion of the park, which cost $2.7 million, brings its total size to 28.6 acres. Located along Studebaker Road between South Street and Del Amo Boulevard, the park has a new entrance off 195th Street.
