* Beeba’s Creations reported a profit of $404,470 on revenue of $23.2 million for the first quarter ended Nov. 30, contrasted with a loss of $454,701 on sales of $20.7 million over the same three months last year.
The increase in sales was attributed by Beeba’s to sales to J. C. Penney’s new Mixit line of junior and ladies sportswear. Beeba’s is a contract clothing manufacturer whose clients include several nationwide clothing retailers in addition to J. C. Penney.
Last year’s first-quarter loss reflected a $580,000 loss on short-term investments brought about by the October, 1987, stock market crash. On Thursday, Beeba’s Creations stock closed down $.25, at $8.50 a share, in over-the-counter trading.
