Andre Previn and the Los Angeles Philharmonic will perform the world premiere of a work by Philharmonic Composer-in-Residence Steven Stucky during Carnegie Hall’s 1990-91 centennial season, it was announced Tuesday. Stucky is one of 10 renowned international composers commissioned to write a work for performance during the centennial season. The composition, which the Los Angeles Philharmonic co-commissioned, will be conducted by Previn in two Philharmonic concerts in Carnegie Hall in September, 1990. The West Coast premiere of another Stucky work, “Transparent Things,” will be played Saturday by the Long Beach Symphony.
