Beverly Hills : Planning Law Extended

Share

The City Council Tuesday extended for 10 months and 15 days an interim ordinance requiring Planning Commission approval for all new commercial projects exceeding 15,000 square feet and for all new multifamily residential buildings with five or more units.

The council passed the ordinance last Dec. 13 in response to homeowners’ complaints of large commercial buildings blocking views and causing traffic problems in residential areas. The law is intended to give planners time to draft a permanent ordinance restricting mid-size projects that previously did not require Planning Commission reviews.

The council may extend the ordinance for another year when the law expires Dec. 14, 1989.
