WORLD : U.S. Rejects Africa ‘Terrorist’ Label

WASHINGTON —
The State Department today rejected the Defense Department’s description of the African National Congress as a terrorist group and said the United States shares many of the black organization’s goals for South Africa.
The Pentagon listed the black South African opposition group as a terrorist organization in a book released Tuesday, citing ANC bombing attacks that had killed innocent civilians.
