The NCAA will begin an investigation at North Carolina State after allegations of grade-fixing at the university were disclosed in a book, which reportedly details abuses in the school’s basketball program, North Carolina State Chancellor Bruce Poulton said.
“The National Collegiate Athletic Assn. has notified us that at our urging it will immediately begin its investigation of the grade-fixing allegations at NCSU,” Poulton said.
“They have agreed to this quick investigation because they recognize the importance of these allegations to the integrity of North Carolina State University.”
Simon & Schuster, publisher of the book, “Personal Fouls,” said it will look further into charges made by the author, Peter Golenbock. At the request of the North Carolina attorney general, Simon & Schuster has delayed publication.
