I feel defensive; I did not decide to have a small family because I am materialistic, selfish or mean-spirited, as implied by the article. Many of us restrain our reproduction because we feel that our species has done its duty by multiplying enough, and that now, due to current conditions, it is more loving and generous for us to think of others, and to think of our environment and our future.
