Brian Keith, the former star of “Hardcastle & McCormick,” has a prominent role in the new “Perry Mason” movie for NBC, “The Case of the Lethal Lesson.” He plays the father of the murder victim and an old friend of Mason’s (Raymond Burr). Also in the cast are Alexandra Paul, William R. Moses and Karen Kopins.

John Schneider, former star of “The Dukes of Hazzard,” will be featured in a new series that will air intermittently on NBC’s “The Magical World of Disney.” It’s called “McCall of the Wild” and features him as “an earthy Alaskan wilderness guide who suddenly is thrust into a concrete jungle on the mainland and charged with running a multimillion-dollar publishing empire.” The first episode will be broadcast Jan. 29.

Three teacher-turned-journalists will be correspondents for “Learning in America,” a five-part series on American education that will be broadcast on PBS in March. They are Roger Mudd, John Merrow and Paul Solman. Also involved in reporting for the program is Charlayne Hunter-Gault from “The MacNeil/Lehrer News-Hour.”

Charles Kuralt of CBS News will serve as master of ceremonies at the 46th annual Alfred I. duPont-Columbia University Awards for broadcast journalism, which will be presented Jan. 26. PBS will televise the event. Appearing as presenters will be Sam Donaldson of ABC, Garrick Utley of NBC, Mary Alice Williams of CNN, Jacqueline Adams of CBS and Michael Sovern, president of Columbia University.
