Winners of the 1989 New York Film Critics Circle Awards gathered at Sardi’s restaurant in New York Sunday to pick up their awards. The honorees included Meryl Streep, best actress for “A Cry in the Dark,” and Jeremy Irons, best actor for his role as twin gynecologists in “Dead Ringers.” Supporting acting awards went to Dean Stockwell (“Married to the Mob” and “Tucker”) and Diane Venora (“Bird”). “The Accidental Tourist” was the group’s choice as best picture.
