Lawyers for shareholders and creditors of Public Service Co. of New Hampshire dismissed a $2-billion offer for the company by Northeast Utilities as too low. Howard Berman, a lawyer representing Public Service’s 100,000 shareholders, said they would urge the company’s board to reject Northeast Utilities’ plan “as totally unsatisfactory.” Northeast Utilities offered last week to buy Public Service’s assets aside from its share of the Seabrook nuclear power plant for $1.2 billion.
