Stephen J. Friedman, chairman and chief executive of Los Angeles-based Kings Road Entertainment, has been relieved of his duties by the company’s directors. The independent film production company, which Friedman had founded in 1981 and took public four years later, said the chairman’s duties would be assumed by a committee of three outside directors, Herbert Hurwitz, Cy Leslie and William P. Miller. The company also said it will “implement a management restructuring and will continue its production and foreign distribution operations.”
