After two years, the city’s “Let’s Get Paramount Neighborhoods Lookin’ Good” program, which targeted specific residential areas for cleanup, is coming to an end.

The program, which used volunteers, residents and city staff members to fix up and repair areas at no cost to residents, ends Saturday.

Since the program began, about 2,000 volunteers worked more than 8,000 hours cleaning 1,000 properties, painting almost 700 homes and removing 3,400 tons of debris, said Patrick West, deputy city manager.

The Lookin’ Good program was one of three municipal projects that helped the city win the All-American City Award from the National Civic League last year. Paramount was one of 10 cities to be honored by the league for solving major community problems or issues.
