Sports : Notre Dame Player Collapses, Dies
Notre Dame football player Bob Satterfield collapsed at a nightclub and died early today, a few hours after returning from a White House visit with his national championship teammates.
Satterfield, 22, of Encino, Calif., died at 3 a.m. at Pawating Hospital in Niles, Mich., after collapsing at O’Tay’s Nite Club in Niles, about five miles north of the campus. The cause of death was not immediately determined and an autopsy was to be performed.
Notre Dame Sports Information Director John Heisler said Satterfield had been in good health and had “definitely not” been drinking excessively before he collapsed. Satterfield played for Notre Dame High School in Los Angeles. He was a cornerback at Notre Dame University and appeared in only two games in 1988.
