Nonagenarian George Burns is celebrating his 93rd birthday today by giving $1 million to the Cedars-Sinai Medical Center Endowment Fund. Three years ago, Burns gave another $1 million to launch the fund toward a goal of $90 million. In the interim, $89 million has been raised, so, says Burns, “for my birthday, I wanted to give them a present” to round out the fund-raising effort. Awaiting Burns when he announces the gift this morning at a news conference will be a birthday cake with words proclaiming: “George, You’re Worth More Than a Million.” Burns has another reason to celebrate today: his book, “Gracie: A Love Story,” is a best seller.
