Local News in Brief : Huntington Beach : ‘Sitters’ Being Sought for New Surf Museum

Share

Volunteer “sitters” are being sought by the Huntington Beach International Surf Museum, a budding shrine to the sport in downtown.

Museum chairwoman Natalie Kotsch said volunteers are needed to watch the museum during business hours. A knowledge of surfing is not necessary, she said.

Donations of surfing artifacts also are welcome, Kotsch said, adding that community support and funding continues to pour in. Earlier this month, she said, a new computer was donated by Roger Torriero and Griffin Realty, and a $2,000 check was contributed by the Robert Mayer Corp. The latter two firms have substantial development interests in the sprawling 336-acre downtown redevelopment area near the pier.

The museum is in quarters downtown but eventually will be housed near the pier. For more information, call (714) 536-0155 or (714) 960-8497.
