Local News in Brief : Countywide : Governor Invites Riley to Transportation Summit
Gov. George Deukmejian has invited Orange County Supervisor Thomas F. Riley to participate in a Feb. 8 summit meeting on state transportation financing in Sacramento.
Riley, who is also chairman of the Orange County Transportation Commission, will join 26 other state and local government officials at the summit, according to a commission spokesman.
The agenda will include discussion of a possible state gas tax hike or bond measures to help finance highway construction.
Also participating in the summit will be Assemblyman Ross Johnson (R-La Habra), and Irvine Co. Vice Chairman Thomas Nielsen, who will be representing the California Roundtable business organization.
