Company Told to Close Agua Dulce Operation

The Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors, responding to complaints from residents about noise and traffic, Tuesday barred a manufacturing company from operating in Agua Dulce.

Residents complained that S.C. Truss Co., a manufacturer of roof supports, has destroyed the peaceful, rural atmosphere of the unincorporated community.

Virginia Bohanan, an Agua Dulce resident, said the operation resembles a large lumberyard. Hammering and sawing disturbs nearby residents all hours of the day and night, she said.

The company has been operating for 1 1/2 years on land zoned for agricultural purposes while trying to have the zoning changed to permit industrial use.

The Regional Planning Commission refused last year to change the zoning of the property near Davenport and Agua Dulce Canyon roads. The supervisors upheld the commission’s decision.
