Local News in Brief : Drunk Driver Gets 14 Months in Jail
- Share via
A Pomona man pleaded guilty Wednesday to a drunk-driving charge for the 11th time in the past eight years and was sentenced to 14 months in County Jail.
William R. Hilbert, 43, also had his driver’s license revoked for four years and was placed on probation for five years by Municipal Court Commissioner Ronald Grey.
Hilbert, an unemployed former firefighter, was sentenced after pleading guilty to driving under the influence of alcohol, driving with a blood-alcohol content above the legal limit of 0.10% and driving with a revoked license, all misdemeanors.
In December, Hilbert was ordered held in lieu of $250,000 bail after a prosecutor said his blood-alcohol level had often been three times the legal limit, adding, “I cannot believe this guy hasn’t killed someone.”
