Local News in Brief : Santa Ana : Meeting Scheduled on 1990 Census Benefits

Share

Residents and community leaders are invited to attend a special presentation Tuesday on the city’s 1990 Census Outreach Project to highlight the importance and benefits of participating in the 1990 Census.

According to a statement released by the city, a major effort will be made next year to reach Latino, Vietnamese, Cambodian, Laotian and other ethnic populations within Santa Ana because their numbers have not been accurately represented in previous census counts. These groups, the statement said, have been difficult to reach because of language and cultural barriers.

Guest speaker at the event, co-hosted by the city and Voces Unidas, a Latino organization, will be John E. Reeder Jr., a representative of the U.S. Department of Commerce. The presentation will be at 1 p.m. at the Corbin Community Center, 2215 W. McFadden Ave.
