The Chargers met with two more candidates Wednesday night in their search for a head coach.

They were former Mike White, the former University of Illinois head coach, and Washington Redskins assistant Dan Henning.

That brought to three the number of candidates interviewed in two days. Tuesday night the Chargers talked with George Seifert, the San Francisco 49ers’ defensive coordinator, who is also a candidate for the vacant Cleveland head coaching position.

All three candidates were interviewed in Monterey, Calif.

“I was very impressed with George as a person and even more impressed since Sunday with his work,” said Steve Ortmayer, the Chargers’ director of football operations.

Seifert Sunday directed the San Francisco defense that limited the Cincinnati offense to no touchdowns in the 49ers’ 20-16 victory in Super Bowl XXIII.
