A Doll and Toy Sale With Something for Everyone

The Verdugo Hills Doll Club’s Doll and Toy Sale today at the Pasadena Elks Lodge still is very much “a mother-daughter type of outing,” club member Pam Kandel says. Dads, sons and all others are welcome, though, and there will be more than just dolls on display--toys and teddies too. More than 40 dealers will show their rare 19th-Century papier-mache, bisque and wooden dolls in addition to modern collectibles, such as Barbie and Mme. Alexander.

“The top prices for the Barbies, like all the dolls, are for those in mint condition,” Kandel says, “and the best are in their original boxes”--an unspoken lesson in the long-term rewards of taking care of your toys.

Rounding out the show will be doll clothes, wigs and parts, plus furniture and reference books. One booth is devoted to frilly paper items, a great leg-up on Valentine’s Day.
