Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, the guru who introduced transcedental meditation to the United States, is considering the San Francisco Bay Area as a site of “heavenly homes” that are “in tune with the environment”, followers said. Spokesman Curtis McDonald said the new housing is needed because existing cities “are chocked with pollution, crime, noise, gridlock and negativity.” The homes, designed for a variety of income levels, would be open to all, McDonald said.
