Standout hurdler Greg Foster, who broke his left arm two weeks before the Olympic trials last summer, broke it again while playing basketball with friends in West Los Angeles.

Foster’s coach, Bob Kersee, said Foster broke the arm under the metal plate that was inserted during surgery last summer. Foster suffered the injury Monday night.

Foster was taken to UCLA Medical Center. An attendant in the emergency room there said that no information could be given about Foster’s condition. Kersee said that Foster would be taken to a hospital near his home in suburban Chino Hills and that surgery has been scheduled.

Foster, 30, first broke the arm last July 4 in a training accident at Mt. San Antonio College in Walnut. He was injured when he tripped over a hurdle and broke the fall with his arm. A plate and 12 screws were inserted.
