Micro D Chairman Linwood A. (Chip) Lacy said Tuesday that he has agreed to head the combined operations of Micro D and Ingram Computers.

Santa Ana-based Micro D agreed last month to be acquired by Ingram Computers’ parent company, Ingram Industries, in a transaction valued at $43.9 million.

Ingram Industries, a Nashville, Tenn., conglomerate, previously owned 59% of Micro D, and its offer was to purchase the remainder of Micro D’s stock.

Ingram Computers, based in Buffalo, N.Y., and Micro D both distribute computer products.

Lacy has said that the Micro D/Ingram combination will be based in Santa Ana. He said Tuesday that other details of the merger have not been completed.

Lacy said he is not sure yet what his title will be with the combined entity. He has been Micro D’s chairman and chief executive since 1985.
