College Basketball Roundup : Ellis (18 Points) Leads Irish Over Dayton, 85-75

LaPhonso Ellis scored 18 points to lead Notre Dame to an 85-75 victory over Dayton Tuesday night at South Bend, Ind.

Keith Robinson added 16 for Notre Dame (11-3). Anthony Corbitt led Dayton (9-8) with 15 points.

Dayton trailed, 39-31, at halftime and never got closer after the Irish opened the second half with a 6-0 burst.

Temple 77, Penn 55--Freshman guard Mik Kilgore scored a career-high 16 points to lead five Temple players in double figures as the Owls defeated the Quakers at Philadelphia. Mike Vreesvyk added 15 points and Mark Macon 11 points and 12 assists for the Owls, who never trailed in the game.

DePaul 85, Duquesne 63--Stanley Brundy scored 18 points as DePaul used superior quickness, shooting and rebounding ability to win this game at Rosemont, Ill., giving Coach Joey Meyer his 100th career victory. Melvon Foster added 12 points for the Blue Demons (13-9).

Iowa St. 88, Nebraska 76--All five Cyclone starters scored in double figures, topped by Victor Alexander’s 22 points and they hit 12 straight shots in the first half en route to a Big Eight conference win over the Cornhuskers at Ames, Iowa.
