Nintendo of America said the $250-million antitrust lawsuit filed against the video game maker by rival Atari Corp. “is simply . . . sour grapes.” Nintendo, which has an estimated 85% share of the $2.3-billion-a-year video game market, said the suit was “an attempt to excuse Atari’s poor competitive performance” after losing its previous market dominance. The Atari suit charges that Nintendo illegally prevents creators of games for its system to make comparable games for competing video game systems.
