Death of Artist Salvador Dali

Share

I’ve just read the article in The Times (Part I, Jan. 24) about Salvador Dali’s passing.

In past years we used to laugh at him, and wonder what he was doing. This article told me differently.

He was a man who knew himself. He wasn’t a “sheep”--following along with the accepted way. His parents encouraged his eccentric actions and views--how wonderful!

His goal was making money and becoming famous--both transpired in his lifetime--not after his death!

His “Face of War” (1941) at his show here in Los Angeles, couldn’t be truer--skeletons within skeletons!

I admire people who stay with their own inner convictions, despite criticism, ostracism, laughing gibes--he withstood these.

He is unique, I think.
