EECO Inc. of Santa Ana Agrees to Sell Its Airline Entertainment Division

Share

EECO Inc. has agreed to sell its airline passenger entertainment business to a group of Boston investors for $15 million in cash and notes.

Avionics Technologies will lease a section of EECO’s Santa Ana facility and continue making audio headsets systems there. The Boston group will retain all the unit’s approximately 100 Santa Ana employees, according to Seymour A. Schlosser, EECO’s chief financial officer.

EECO has been making headset systems that supply music and information aboard airplanes for 15 years, Schlosser said. The business accounted for more than 10% of EECO’s sales last year.

The company said the sale was part of a previously announced effort to focus on its core business of making keyboard and switches for the computer industry.

The companies said the sale is subject to several conditions, including Avionics Technologies’ obtaining financing. The deal is expected to be completed in the second quarter.
