Tonight, UCLA Will Try to Extend USC’s 10-Game Losing Streak
UCLA, which has had problems this season with the most lightly regarded teams on its schedule, will play the worst team in the Pacific 10 Conference tonight at Pauley Pavilion.
That would be USC (7-14 overall, 0-10 in the Pac-10) and loser of 10 straight games since beating Yale Dec. 29.
Among the Trojans’ losses was a 67-66 decision against UCLA last month at the Sports Arena in which UCLA overcame a 10-point halftime deficit, winning on a jumper from the top of the key by Pooh Richardson with 11 seconds left.
UCLA’s record of 14-5 also includes a one-point victory over Washington State, less-than-impressive victories over Arizona State and Oregon and a one-point loss to UC Irvine.
“Hopefully, we can put away the fact of who we’re playing and (just) come out and play,” said UCLA Coach Jim Harrick, whose team is 9-2 in the Pac-10. “That’s what good teams do.”
