A fourth suspect in a drive-by, gang-related shooting 3 months ago that left a young man with impaired vision in one eye was arrested Thursday morning, Brea police said.

Mauricio Solarte, 20, was picked up at his home in La Habra and taken to County Jail, where he is being held on $250,000 bail, Detective Robert Harper said.

The drive-by shooting took place in December in Brea. The victim, 21-year-old Jose Sanchez, was driving along Imperial Highway when he was shot by someone in a passing car, police said.

Harper said police have been working with Sanchez of La Habra to identify suspects.

“Originally, the victim was reluctant to identify the suspects because he was afraid for his own safety,” Harper said. “Even we sometimes are afraid of retaliation.”

Harper said all the suspects “appear to have some sort of gang affiliation.”

Two suspects, Valenti Dominguez and Guy Anthony Perez, both of La Habra, were arrested 2 weeks after the shooting, on suspicion of attempted murder. A third suspect, a juvenile, is also in custody, Harper said.
