NATION : Georgia Governor’s Aunt Strangled
CARTERSVILLE, Ga. —
An aunt of Gov. Joe Frank Harris, found slain in her home over the weekend, was strangled, perhaps by a robber, police said today.
Allie Morrow Roper, 75, a sister of Harris’ mother, Frances Morrow Harris, was found dead Sunday morning after she failed to pick up neighbors for church. The woman, who lived alone, apparently was killed Saturday night, police said. She was found unclothed and bound. The Harris family was “in shock” over the slaying, said Barbara Morgan, spokeswoman for the governor.
