Rock singer Rod Stewart has joined the ranks of celebrities signed up by Pepsi-Cola Co. to advertise the soft drink as it continues its marketing war with archrival Coca-Cola Co. Stewart signed a deal to appear in Pepsi ads in Latin America later this year, Somers, N.Y.-based Pepsi-Cola International said. Terms of the deal were not disclosed. In addition to the commercials, Pepsi said it will sponsor Stewart’s concert tour of South America and Mexico. Last month, Pepsi said it signed pop star Madonna for a global ad campaign that would include the debut of a song from the singer’s upcoming album. Separately, Coca-Cola announced in Atlanta that it had signed a sponsorship agreement making Coke the official soft drink of the 1992 Winter Olympics in Albertville, France, and the Summer Olympics in Barcelona, Spain.
