Blues great Willie Dixon will donate $3,000 worth of band equipment to Locke High School in Los Angeles next Thursday. The presentation, made through Dixon’s Blues Heaven Foundation for the promotion and documentation of blues music and history, will be made in memory of blues singer Big Joe Turner. Along with the equipment, the school will receive a matching grant from the Yamaha Corp. of America. Another donation of the same value will be made Feb. 28 to the John P. Freeman School in Memphis, in memory of longtime Dixon associate, pianist Memphis Slim.
