A division of a Chrysler Corp. subsidiary will supply axles to a Jeep-making factory in China for the next 10 years and provide technology that will allow the Chinese to build their own axles, it was announced Wednesday.

Thomas Stallkamp, chairman of Chrysler’s Acustar Inc. parts subsidiary, said the first 1,000 axles will be shipped in March to Beijing Jeep Corp., which makes the Cherokee model of the sport utility vehicle. Shipment of up to 80,000 axles a year is anticipated.

Chrysler owns 31% of Beijing Jeep Corp.
