A Fullerton man was killed instantly early Saturday when his car and collided with a truck in Brea during a chase by La Habra police, authorities said. The truck’s driver was injured.
David L. Wilkinson, 27, lost control of his 1976 Chevrolet Camaro while being pursued east on State College Boulevard near Brea Boulevard.
Brea Police Lt. Chris Trimble said the crash happened at 2:28 a.m. when Wilkinson slid sideways into the westbound lanes of State College Boulevard and collided with a 1987 Toyota pickup driven by Craig E. Farren, 22, of Brea.
According to Sgt. Kevin Raisch, a La Habra patrol unit was chasing Wilkinson because of a speeding violation.
Raisch said he did not know how fast the cars were going at the time of the crash, but said the whole chase was “short-lived.”
The patrol unit was not involved in the collision, authorities said.
Farren was in stable condition Saturday at UCI Medical Center in Orange, hospital spokeswoman Marie Sanders said.
