Brown Returns to Politics

Share

Welcome back, Jerry Brown.

We remember how you said no new nuclear plants until the waste disposal problem is solved. How you were reviled! The problem was practically solved, they said. Just a month or two away. You saved California from a Seabrook or a Shoreham or a fiasco like Washington state.

As we approach gridlock and permanent pollution of our air, we remember that you stopped unlimited freeway expansion. We remember your leadership in fighting against the disgraceful peonage of farm workers. Far from considering the Medfly incident a catastrophe, we remember that you tried to stop aerial spraying of people.

Now we have hope. We hope you will re-invigorate a Democratic Party that will do the will of the people to keep pesticides off our food and out of our ground water. We hope to have a party that instead of being alarmed about taxing the rich, will be concerned about the education of our children; a party that will address the shame of the homeless living on our streets and in our parks instead of promoting skyscrapers and developments; a party that will insist on a living wage for workers instead of inviting overseas investors to California.
