Lazers Beat Blast in Sudden Death, 6-5

Hector Marinaro scored his second goal 4:44 into sudden death overtime Sunday and the Lazers ended a two-game losing streak by defeating the Baltimore Blast, 6-5, in a Major Indoor Soccer League game at Baltimore.

Goalkeeper Kris Peat made 23 saves as the Lazers (15-15) ended Baltimore’s three-game winning streak.

Baltimore (19-9), which trailed by two in the fourth quarter, tied the score, 5-5, on goals by David Byrne and Domenic Mobilio, whose game-tying goal came with three seconds left in regulation.

Byrne’s goal was his third of the game, giving him his first hat trick of the season.

Gary Heale and Marinaro scored goals 39 seconds apart early in the third period to erase a 3-2 Blast lead, and Michael Collins scored his 19th goal of the season early in the fourth quarter before Baltimore rallied to tie the score.

Heale and Marinaro each finished with two goals and an assist, and Cha Cha Namdar had a goal and assist for the Lazers.

Baltimore goalkeeper Slobo Ilijevski had 21 saves.
