William E. Butler, 57, has been named president and chief operating officer of Eaton Corp., Cleveland, following the resignation of Vice Chairman Alfred M. Rankin. Butler has been president of Eaton’s automotive components group since 1979. Rankin quit to become president and chief operating officer of Nacco Industries Inc.
