A parade, a luncheon and a performance by a Scottish bagpipe band are all scheduled Monday when the mayor of Dublin, Ireland, visits Torrance.

The Lord Mayor Councilor Ben Briscoe will visit the city to promote the Tom Sullivan St. Patrick’s Day 10-K Run. Proceeds for the March 17 run will go to Vistas for Blind Children, an organization working to provide education and training for blind children.

While in Torrance, the Briscoe will also work to establish ties between that city and Dublin, organizers said.

Monday’s activities will begin in front of City Hall at 11:30 a.m., when a ceremonial exchange of flags will take place. This will be followed by a performance by the South High School band.

After the ceremonies, the South Bay Scottish Pipe Band will lead a parade from City Hall to the Torrance Marriott, where a luncheon will be held in Briscoe’s honor.

The event is sponsored by the city of Torrance, the Torrance Area Chamber of Commerce and Sullivan, organizer of the 10-kilometer run.
