MAYORAL RACE

There are now 10 candidates for mayor of Los Angeles. City Clerk Elias Martinez said Friday his review of signatures on petitions showed Leonard Earl Miropol has enough to be on the April 11 primary ballot.

Mayor Tom Bradley speaks at 9:30 a.m. today at a hotel and restaurant workers union leadership conference at USC’s Davidson Conference Center.

At the City Council on Thursday, Councilman Nate Holden honored those who took part in his campaign to buy back semiautomatic rifles for $300 each. He paid for 116 of the weapons.

CITY COUNCIL RACES

Councilman Michael Woo outlined a plan Friday to subsidize up to $2 million in critically needed housing construction for poor families in Hollywood.

Councilwoman Joy Picus was endorsed by the Los Angeles County Federation of Labor, AFL-CIO, and the United Firefighters of Los Angeles.

CITY CONTROLLER

Candidate Ray Bishop, a politician from Tarzana, announced his endorsement by U.S. Rep. Esteban E. Torres (D-La Puente).
