The future of veteran Assistant City Manager Paul Brady will be discussed in a closed session scheduled toward the start of the Irvine City Council’s meeting Tuesday. The council is expected to decide whether to promote Brady to the city manager’s post, which becomes vacant Aug. 1, or search outside Irvine for a new top administrator.

Earlier this month, the council removed William Woollett from the post he had held for 17 years. Woollett was Irvine’s first and only city manager.
