David W. Steadman, formerly a curator at the Norton Simon Museum in Pasadena and professor at Pomona College, is expected to be named Friday as director of the Toledo Museum of Art in Ohio. Steadman has served as the director of the Chrysler Museum in Norfolk, Va., since 1980 and led that museum through a $13.5 million expansion and renovation program. He will replace Roger Mandle, who resigned in October to become deputy director of the National Gallery of Art in Washington. Steadman will assume his new post in July.
