Coach Denies Report Sanders to Turn Pro

Oklahoma State Coach Pat Jones has denied a published report that Heisman Trophy winner Barry Sanders told him he plans to skip his senior year and apply for the National Football League draft.
The Atlanta Constitution and The Atlanta Journal reported in their combined edition today that when Jones was asked about Sanders turning pro he said, “Yeah, that’s right. But that’s all I’m going to say about it. You asked, I answered. OK?”
However, contacted by the Associated Press at his home in Stillwater, Okla., Friday night, Jones said that whatever the Atlanta newspapers printed “is taken way out of context. I think I told the guy that, yes, we had talked. But I didn’t say anything I hadn’t said before.”
