IN BRIEF : Giants’ Reuschel Gains Extension
Veteran Rick Reuschel, who led San Francisco last year with a 19-11 record, was rewarded today with a one-year contract extension through the 1990 season. Giants President and General Manager Al Rosen--who earlier signed outfielder Brett Butler to a three-year extension--would not disclose the terms of the agreement. Reuschel came to the Giants on Aug. 21, 1987, from Pittsburgh in exchange for Jeff Robinson and Scott Medvin. Last year, he had a 3.12 ERA and was tied for the NL lead with 36 starts. He was also named to the 1988 All-Star team.
