Daily News Election Requested: The Los Angeles Newspaper Guild said it asked the National Labor Relations Board to schedule an election to allow editorial employees at the Daily News, based in Woodland Hills, to vote on whether the union should represent them. Jim Smith, administrative officer for the Guild, said a “substantial majority” of the nearly 200 reporters, photographers, copy editors and other editorial workers at the newspaper signed cards requesting an election. Smith said the Guild hopes an election is scheduled by April. Daily News Publisher Robert Steven Morris declined to comment.
