The John Birch Society, the ultra-conservative organization with hard-line anti-communist views, will move its headquarters from Massachusetts to Wisconsin, a society official said. John McManus, director of communications for the society, said the organization would relocate its suburban Belmont, Mass., headquarters and its office in San Marino, Calif., to Appleton, Wis., this summer. McManus said Appleton is less expensive than the East Coast and fits the society’s desire for a central location in the United States. The society recently named G. Allen Bubolz as its chief executive officer, replacing Charles Armour, who retired in December after serving for 2 1/2 years as the organization’s top officer.
