Hitachi Announces New Rewritable Disk System

Hitachi Ltd., a major Japanese electronics company, said it has developed a 5 1/2-inch rewritable optical magnetic disk system capable of quickly recording, reproducing and erasing data.

The company said the new system, OD112-1, consists of a drive with an optical magnetic disk cartridge based on the International Organization for Standardization specifications.
